I'm Jeff. I make functional pottery one piece at a time in my basement studio along the Mississippi River.
Most of my work starts here -
with some clay, a wheel, and an idea.
I make pots meant to be used. Mugs that become somebody’s favorite mug. Bowls that end up on the dinner table. Bottles that sit next to the stove. Things that get a little better as they become part of someone’s everyday life.
Made slowly.

It started with Sister Dennis Frandrup.
I took a pottery class from Sister Dennis at St. John’s University. Neither of us knew how much it would stick.
Years later, I’m still making pots.
Meet two of my middle-school teachers - Mrs. Kishaba and Mrs. Roberts.
In Mrs. Roberts class I sewed a canvas duffel bag. I still remember making that bag. As a teenager, I didn’t understand why I enjoyed making that bag.
It took me decades to understand that I’m a maker.
